Women's Day / Día de la mujer (English and Spanish)

ESADE University of Barcelona booked me for a very special painting session!

My Book a Street Artist agent reached out to me to see if I was available to travel to Barcelona for Women's Day. ESADE university needed a live artist for an event organized by their Women in Business Club. I thought it was a great idea and I was immediately on board! The only problem was that I was in Aachen and the day before the event I had to be in Valencia to teach my illustration course.

I went crazy to find a way to make it possible. ESADE expected a 2 metres canvas and I was very sure I could not carry it around with my crazy schedule. I ended signing up on Amazon Premium to have some canvases shipped to the school next day.

I took a train at 7:30 from Valencia to be in Barcelona at 11:00. Sant Cugat, where the school is, was still an hour away. I had added some extra time to my journey to get lost and so I did. Fortunately I arrived on time.

As it was Women's Day I went with the obvious and painted... a woman. But as it was the Women in Business Club whom had called, I wanted to portray a clever, strong, confident but also a kind and emotionally intelligent individual. A woman who was not afraid to speak up and persue her dreams.

Her gaze was a key part of the painting. Despite the strong colours she had in herself, she still beholded a clear and kind view. She was capable of everything.

I had a great time and loved this initiative. I had a great day of awareness, music, colour and meeting talented women from different fields.

La ESADE de Barcelona me contrató para una sesión de pintura muy especial

Mi agente de Book a Street Artist me escribió para ver si podía viajar a Barcelona por el día de la mujer. La ESADE necesitaba un artista que pintara en directo para un evento organizado por su Women in Business Club (Club de Mujeres en Empresas). Pensé que era una idea genial y en seguida acepté. El único problema era que en esos momentos me encontraba en Aachen y el día de antes debía estar en Valencia para dar mi clase de ilustración.

Tuve un momento de caos para ver cómo podía organizarlo. La ESADE quería que pintara en un lienzo de 2 metros y me iba a ser imposible llevarlo conmigo dada mi agenda. Al final acabé suscribiéndome a Amazon Premium para que enviaran los lienzos directamente a la universidad al día siguiente.

Cogí un tren a las 7:30 en Valencia para estar a las 11:00 en Barcelona. Sant Cugat, donde está la universidad, estaba todavía a una hora de distancia. Había calculado tiempo extra por si me perdía y efectivamente, me perdí. Por suerte logré llegar a tiempo. (Me hice un lío entre Rodalíes, Ferrocarril, metro...) Por suerte, conseguí llegar a tiempo.

Dado que era el Día de la Mujer, hice lo obvio y pinté... una mujer. Pero como había sido el Women in Business Club quien me había llamado, quise hacer una mujer lista, fuerte, segura de sí misma pero también representar a un individuo emocionalmente inteligente y bueno. Una mujer sin miedo a hablar y a perseguir sus sueños.

Su mirada iba a ser la clave del cuadro. Pese a los fuertes colores que residían en ella, mantenía una mirada limpia. Era capaz de todo.

Disfruté mucho del día y me encantó la iniciativa. Pasé un día genial de concienciación, música, color y conocí a mujeres muy potentes de distintos campos.
